History
Throughout the years Pulse was quite active in student politics and continuously strived to further enhance student rights. Pulse has intervened several times to safeguard students’ interest both on a national and individual level.
1997
March 1997
The students’ organization Pulse was officially established. A press release was issued by Reuben Fenech who was appointed as President.
September 1997
Pulse was officially recognized by the University of Malta Senate.
October 1997
Pulse participated in the protests against the proposed Stipends reform.
1998
April 1998
The Annual General Meeting appointed Kenneth Busuttil as the new President.
September 1998
Pulse was allocated an office in Students’ House.
October 1998
“In Pulse,” the first official publication was distributed.
1999
January 1999
The Pulse Junior College branch was established.
April 1999
A debate about the relevance of political ideology was organized.
November 1999
Pulse wins the KSJC elections by a 66% majority.
2000
March 2000
Pulse organizes Education Week.
March 2000
The Annual General Meeting appoints a new executive and Corry Greenland elected as the new President.
August 2000
Pulse was allocated an office at Junior College.
September 2000
An official policy paper with regards to education was published.
November 2000
Pulse wins the KSJC elections.
November 2000
Mr. Cory Greenland and Pulse representatives attended the Commonwealth Youth Parliamentary Session.
2001
March 2001
Pulse organizes a political debate on campus, amongst those present were party leaders Dr Eddie Fennech Adami and Dr Alfred Sant.
October 2001
The party – eXclamation was organized on campus.
November 2001
Pulse wins the KSJC elections for the third consecutive time.
November 2001
Pulse website amongst the finalists in the Malta Web Awards.
December 2001
Pulse together with KSJC organized a protest against the increase in MATSEC tariffs. Around 2000 students participated.
2002
January 2002
Pulse representatives elected on the Giovvani Curmi Higher Secondary School Student board.
March 2002
Pulse contests the KSU elections for the first time and garners 40%.
March 2002
The Extra-Ordinary General Meeting appoints Andre’ Borg as the new Pulse president.
September 2002
Pulse organizes an international youth exchange; Contact 2002: a conflict a solution.

Pulse contests the KSJC elections.

Pulse joins the “Id f’id ghaliek” coalition for the KSU elections.

An Extra-Ordinary meeting to approve the proposed new Pulse logo.

Contact 2002: a conflict a solution was awarded best European Youth Initiative by the EUPA.

Pulse organizes a protest against the increase in bus fare tickets. Pulse presented its proposal for a direct bus route system.

Pulse organizes a Youth Exchange – Joining Heads, Bridging Gaps.

A press conference to condemn the reductions in stipends and smart cards was held at UoM and a policy paper with regards to stipends was published.

Pulse wins the KSJC elections.

The Extra-Ordinary General Meeting appoints Mr. Randolph Debattista as new PULSE president

Pulse organizes a press conference at the UoM to inform and condemn the new parking system to the UoM students.

PULSE undergoes a re-branding process, the logo was changed.

PULSE issues first copy of the Whistle Blower.

PULSE holds a press conference with the secretary generals of the main political parties being present, whereby PULSE gave its reaction to the manifestos being put forward.

PULSE EGM appoints Mr. Tyson Fenech as new PULSE president.

PULSE expresses its solidarity with the MCAST students and participates in a protest and intervenes in the discussions between the MUT and MCAST to voice student concerns.

PULSE condemns MUT/UMASA directives over trade dispute with UoM.
September 2008
PULSE organizes a Youth Exchange Program – Save Darfur.
September 2008
PULSE organizes the FRESHERS Beach Party.

PULSE members’ sum up to more than 750 that year.

PULSE organizes its biggest party – Sun Glasses at Night party at AXIS.

PULSE wins the KSJC elections for the second consecutive time.

PULSE together with the rest of the UoM student organizations protests against the MUT/UMASA directives which threatened to postpone exams.

PULSE joins the ACT coalition and contested the KSU elections.

PULSE wins KSJC election for the 3rd time running.

PULSE joins Front Kontra Censura

PULSE launches Proportional Representation campaign.
May 2010
EU funds for Life Long Learning and Youth in Action were suspended. PULSE had expressed its concerns on the matter and joined forces with KSU and KNZ. Furthermore Pulse representatives presented a petition to MPs.

PULSE was confirmed the most active student organization on campus in 2009-10 according to CONF.
